Where did you get the idea for a comic about a Match?
I'm going to assume you've heard of Aesop's Fables, because most everyone in the world has. So then the same people who did The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, also did Squids Will Be Squids, a collection of unfables. One of them was called "Straw and Matches." In that story, Straw was a bunch of straw (like you find in barns) and Matches was a box of matches with arms made of matches.

About 5 years after the first time I read that story, I wanted to draw a comic and couldn't think of anything I liked, except for some strange reason that story. Straw became a drinking straw after I was describing the premise to my then-boyfriend and couldn't explain the type of straw I meant in a way that satisfied me. So I went with a drinking straw because he was the only person I'd told about it and I figured he should have it right. Ironically, he thought I was talking about barn straw the whole time.

Who are these character?
The brown stick with the red head that looks mildly perverted is Match, our rather simple hero. His friends are Butterknife and Straw, who are gray and pink-ish respectively. Butterknife is kinda a jerk and Straw is kinda an airhead. Yeah, I wasn't really original when I made their personalities.

Why don't the characters have real names, like Steve and Betsy?
Because their parents didn't name them Steve or Betsy. Sheesh! And when did Betsy become a "real" name? I am now praying that nobody named Betsy ever reads this.

How often do you plan on updating?
I would like to update daily. I plan on updating every other week. In all actuality, I'll update when I can remember to, am able to, and want to all at once.

What do you use to make the comics?
Honestly? Some other comics are made with tablets so that the people can whine when their tablets break leaving them stranded and without comic-making instruments. I have a box of 24 Crayola colored pencils. Seriously. I draw a basic idea of how the comic will work and then break out the colored pencils and draw the necessary characters.

What font do you use? Why is the text fuzzy on some comics and not on others?
I use Tahoma, just like I use for everything else. The text is off sometimes because I switch between updating at my school and at home, and the programs are different.

Why can't I join the community?
Because I don't want you to. Duh. Really, the reason is because I'm the only person who has any reason to ever be posting here. So it makes no sense to have tons of members. You can, and I urge you to friend the community which is the next best thing. It might be the best thing because then people don't expect you to do anything. Well, except I would like it if you commented.

Can I make icons from your comics?
I'm going to answer this question with another question. What kind of self-advertising bitch would I be if I said no? So the answer is yes. Just as long as you credit where the magnificent artistry came from.

Would you like to affiliate?
Yes! Yes, yes, yes. I would love to. Comment here, email me, comment someplace else, just make sure I get it.

How can I contact you if I have an actual question not already here?
Well, you could comment here, you could comment on the most recent post, you could comment on my journal, or you could email me at toastedtori@gmail.com. Or you could send pigeon mail, but I would try the other methods first.
